Remedial Investigation & Cleanup

We help clients address environmental problems associated with active and abandoned industrial facilities and other contaminated sites. Working with clients—and, when necessary, regulatory personnel—we design technically sound strategies that best meet their needs. Our deep understanding of federal, state, and local regulations stems from years of applying them to a wide variety of projects. Pacific Groundwater Group principals were instrumental in making Washington’s Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) technically defensible and cost-effective by participating in Policy Advisory Committee and Science Advisory Boards.

Characterization and cleanup work typically begins with a review of existing hydrogeologic and chemical data. Other project elements may include:

Collecting groundwater, surface water, sediment, or soil samples

Running aquifer tests

Designing monitoring wells and monitoring systems

Identifying contaminant migration pathways

Modeling contaminant movement and fate

Performing risk analyses

Designing and managing remediation operations

Cost control and project management

We encourage you to browse through a few case studies describing remedial investigations we have conducted.
